Committees

Habilitation Assistance encourage all employees to participate on one or some of the several committees in place to drive the agency forward via employee input and direction.

The following are committees that the agency currently supports:

Case Records/Quality Assurance

Our Case Records and Quality Assurance Committees have combined efforts as much of their work overlaps.  Their purpose is to ensure member records and documentation are in keeping with regulations and support services being provided.

This committee meets every quarter at each of the program locations.  A report of their audits is generated and given to the program director, who develops a corrective action plan.

Corporate Compliance

The purpose of the Corporate Compliance Committee is to ensure on-going monitoring and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This is accomplished through establishing a program that emphasizes the prevention of wrongdoing (whether intentional or unintentional), has a system in place for reporting questionable activities or practices; establishes written policies and procedures, operational practices, designated employees charged to monitor practices, and management personnel charged with oversight and correction.

The Corporate Compliance Committee meets every other month to review self-auditing of service delivery, discuss any risks or threats to the organization, and to review any complaints received.

Central Work Group

The purpose of the Central Work Group is to provide a forum that empowers all employees to express their ideas and share their expertise utilizing a participatory management style.  This participatory management model uses consensus in decision making; aims to build a commitment from its members; and promotes inclusive feedback from all levels of the organization.  Through our combined knowledge, our goal is to create strong outcomes that create better services for our members/customers, positive work environments, and efficient operations within the company.

Note: The intent of the term “consensus” for our meetings means that ALL members of the committee are willing to accept an idea, proposal, and/or resolution.  It does not mean that the majority rules.  All committee members must feel comfortable with moving forward with any decisions of the committee.

Social Media

The purpose and goal of this committee is to create a strong presence on the web that allows us to attract new members/customers/staff; educate the community about our services; and to be competitive with other agencies.  To accomplish this, the committee is dedicated to providing frequent, fluid flow of information via social media.

Social Events

The purpose of the Social Events Committee is to plan, organize, and implement activities for our members that promote community inclusion, social interactions, and enhance their well-being.  This committee also plans and fundraises for the company’s annual Special Olympics event that is held at Joint Base Cape Cod.  Our members compete against one another in a variety of events such as the long jump, relay races, bowling, ball toss, and more.

Culture Focus

The purpose of the Culture Focus Committee is to assess and review the company’s awareness and attention to diversity in service delivery, staffing, overall attitudes/climate, policies and procedures as well as efforts to promote inclusion.

PBS Leadership

The PBS Leadership Team is responsible for identifying the unique needs to be addressed by PBS practices and is charged with the oversight of PBS implementation at all levels. The Leadership Team uses objective, measurable data to make decisions on all aspects of PBS implementation. The PBS Leadership Team is responsible for ensuring that there is a system wide commitment to Positive Behavior Supports at all of our program and supports staff training in this area.

Human Rights

The Human Rights Committee is a group of concerned citizens committed to ensuring the individual rights of our members. This committee is charged with protecting and affirming the rights of individuals, including the review and approval of behavior support plans, review of incident and restraint reports, restrictive procedures, and investigations. They also provide advice to the Administration regarding the company’s policies and procedures.

Health and Safety

Our Health and Safety Committee is responsible for conducting quarterly audits of our programs to ensure safety measures are in place and up-to-date.  The committee reviews health and safety procedures to ensure best practices are being utilized and are in compliance with our regulations.

Wellness

The purpose of the Wellness Committee is to promote a culture of physical, social, and emotional well-being for our employees by providing activities, education, and supports that will result in healthier lifestyles.

The goals of the committee include:

  • Increasing awareness and factors contributing to physical and mental well-being.
  • Inspiring and empowering individuals to take responsibility for their own health.
  • Encouraging employees to make healthier lifestyle choices.

Creating a sense of community and raising awareness through the use of company and community resources.

Advisory Council

Our Advisory Council is established for just that….to advise the company on policies, procedures, financial status, operations, marketing, short and long-term goals.  This group meets quarterly to discuss current issues, receive updates on ongoing operations, and assist with future planning.

The agency offers a Committee Incentive Bonus for employees who participate on agency committees. Please see Employee Benefits for more information.
